The 19th Amendment to the Constitution was passed in 1919. Before this amendment, women were the only adults who did not have the right to vote. It took decades of protesting and several generations of women's activists to get this amendment passed. Women were viewed as lesser than men and were not always allowed to received the education that men did, but it all began to change. In 1919, women were given the right to vote alongside men. This made women have the chance to have their voices heard in the election system, and eventually lead to women being many different forms of leaders.
